A recommended approach would involve a health assessment, psychological skills training, and personal training or conditioning.
Teams are dynamic and complex and require a multifaceted approach requiring commitment from all individuals involved. A wide range of psychological skills training as well as physical health assessments and training/conditioning is available to foster improved wellness and performance in teams.
Wellness workshops are available to small groups of up to 6 persons at a time. The focus is on learning how to lead a healthy lifestyle while also having fun in a safe environment.
The overall aim of a workshop is to foster wellness and performance. This is achieved via sharing a knowledgebase and skillset with clients that enables them to develop and enhance self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and psychological skills such as goal-setting, imagery or visualisation, positive self-talk, and mindfulness.
Health assessments and physical activity may also be incorporated, depending on each unique wellness workshop, i.e., the goals of the workshop and the needs of the unique group being served.
A comprehensive psychological skills training (PST) package includes an intake interview and testing followed by a combination of "the big four" - namely goal setting, arousal regulation, imagery, and self-talk - and other trainable mental skills like awareness, motivation, and self-confidence.
Goal-setting is valuable practise that, if done correctly using outcome, performance, and process goals, can be used to improve physical, psychological, and other health variables. Reflecting on past occurrences, setting SMART goals, and reevaluation and adjustment are all key processes to successful goal-setting practises.
The body has beautiful intrinsic self-protective mechanisms built into the nervous system. Learning to regulate the nervous system is an invaluable tool to improve daily functioning and optimise performance - such as by practising grounding, mindfulness, breathwork, meditation, and other techniques.
Mental imagery, otherwise known as visualisation, is a valuable tool that uses all the senses to recreate or simulate a performance situation. Like any physical skill, it must be practised to be improved. Imagery can serve as a useful pre-performance routine and is also a valuable reflection and projection tool.
The narrative going on in our minds is extremely powerful in creating our reality. Becoming aware of our thoughts and how they impact our actions is the first step. From there, we can learn to restructure our self-talk as a valuable wellness and performance tool. Similarly, trigger or cue words can be a valuable asset during key moments in life or sports.
A general health and wellbeing assessment consists of a comprehensive evaluation of physical, psychological, dietary, social, and other factors, followed by discussions and actioning appropriate interventions.
A personal training (PT) package includes an initial assessment and testing followed by preparing a personalised training program and performing personal training and/or sports conditoning.
Sports conditioning services target the appropriate movements and energy pathways necessary to enhance physical performance on the field, court, or arena.
